Whets a Mr. Calculatem? Read on. Everyone was lucky charms, card covers etc. Mine was Mr. Calculatem. I was at a friends house and he a lucky rock. I had been running pretty bad, just finishing out of the money during our last few weeks of playing. I needed something to help my game.

I went upstairs to use his bathroom and there he was – Mr. Calculatem. He wasn’t actually named yet but it was a little plastic figure that looked like a math teacher. I brought him back down and placed him beside my chips at the next tournament. I got some laughs but as the tournament progressed and I would pretend to talk to him, I was winning. It wasn’t long before I was the chip leader and there was no stopping me. Someone finally asked what this guy’s name was. From out of now where came “Mr. Calculatem”. When I played after that, I brought him and players would comment that I was a shoe in for the money and they were right. I was back on track. My friends wanted Mr. Calculatem banned from the table and for me it was quite funny to see how some reacted to this small piece of plastic. Mr. Calculatem had a good run until I took him to Las Vegas. If you look around the Mirage, you may find his head somewhere.

Everyone needs something now and then. If your game is down in the dumpster, give a good luck object a try. I truly believe there is something in the power of belief. Whether it’s you believing in the luck of the object or those against you believing that you have something over them, I don’t know. Mr. Calculatem might be gone but the memory of him lives on.
